Press carved ink blocks onto a sheet in the right order. Every press covers what lies beneath it, and not every block belongs in the print.
A sheet and a row of blocks
A bare 5×5 sheet waits beside the pattern you must reproduce. Below it lies a row of carved blocks. Each block prints a single ink, red, gold, verdigris or bone, onto a fixed set of cells. Blocks cannot be moved or turned, and each one can be pressed only once.

A press paints every cell of the block and covers whatever was there before. The last ink on a cell is the one that shows.
Read the pattern from the top down
The colours you see in the pattern are only the top layer. Find the block whose print shows whole: it must come last. Peel it away in your head, and the block beneath it comes just before. Work down to the first press.

Wrong cells show a small swatch of the ink they still need. When a cell is set wrong and no block left can reach it, the print is spoiled, and you undo or start again. From the third print on, one block does not belong at all: pressing it at any moment ruins the sheet. Five prints grow from three blocks to seven, each with a single correct order.
